Inspiration Week

This month has been a "month of dry" for me lovelies. I just honestly lack motivation. I lack ideas. I lack self-confidence. I lack inspiration.
I feel as though I'm probably not the only one going through this. There seems to be a general, "let's get this over with" mentality floating through the February-March months every year. I just haven't ever noticed it until this year.
Maybe it's because I'm in college now and we are reaching mid-semester, but I feel as though the sense of dull lately is stretching far beyond my campus. Everyone just seems down.
But is the problem me?

I guess I noticed Sunday.
Church for me is a place of joy, acceptance, and love. Every Sunday morning I'm excited for what God has for me and to see my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.
But this past Sunday, I did not feel any of that.
Why is everyone so upset? I thought.
And then it occurred to me . . .
I was the one upset.
"Everyone is upset" was the mentality I had because I was seeing everyone through my lense of grogginess.

So let's just say that I need a little revamping to my lifestyle, and I've dedicated the three posts on my blog this week to you all who need it too!

6 Ways to Feel Inspired

1. Dedicate 15 minutes each day to learn something from someone.
Okay, this may sound super simple but it makes a profound impact on my mood. I make time to do this on my morning walk to class. I love listening to Joyce Meyer or Priscilla Shirer. They are strong women of God that I truly look up to. Taking the time to gain from their wisdom at the start of my day gets me excited for the hours ahead.

(I HAVE PUT LINKS TO INSPIRATIONAL SPEAKERS AT THE BOTTOM)

2. Take a Walk.
Nature is beautiful. Like I said, my walk to class takes about 15 minutes. But, I like to take a separate walk with no headphones in. I like to make this walk all about thinking and praying. Although I can only seem to find time for this every other day, taking this time to slow down in our fast-paced lives is a great way to feel motivated.

3. Connect.
I'll be honest, I'm guilty of wallowing in self pity. Whenever I feel sad or down, I tend to make it worse by spending hours and hours alone. It's those hours that I often tell myself the lie that "No one loves me so I might as well spare them and be myself." (So dramatic, I know)
Whenever I specifically plan on spending time with people (although sometimes it's something I must force myself to do), it has proven to make me feel uplifted every time. BEWARE though of friends who will simply bring you further down. Spend this time with an encouraging friend who doesn't only talk about others short comings or how bad their life is.

4. Create something.
DO THIS! Some of the most rewarding times I've spent are the times I develop an idea and go through with it. Example, last week I spent about eight hours in total working on my boyfriends valentines gift. (If interested: I made a binder full of pictures and drawings describing a bucket list of 35 adventures I hope to take with him) It took so much time, but in the end it was something I continuously smiled about because I was so proud of the result. It was something I desired to show the girls on my dorm hall because I was excited that I had created it.
So whether it's sitting down and drawing, or typing up a blog post  . . . create something amazing today!

5. Be Pretty.
You've heard it a billion times: You are beautiful. But it is so true!
Although knowing your beautiful is key to any healthy self-image, that's not what this step is about. This is about taking specific time to make yourself look as pretty as you can be! Whatever that looks like for you, whether it's trying a new hairstyle or buying a new outfit, take special time today to be "all about you." Pamper yourself: sometimes that's all you need.

6. Do something for someone else.
Okay so I realize I'm being very contradicting. I go from one step about focusing on you to a step all about turning your focus outwards. I have found that the key to happiness and healthy living involves a balance of both of these things. It's vital to know what you need and when you need it, but it is also so very important to be aware of others needs as well.
Personally, I love volunteering. I get such a sense of joy out of helping others. But maybe that's not you. Ask yourself what doing something for someone else looks like specifically for you. Is it simply giving someone a compliment, or is it spending time playing bingo in a nursing home? Whatever it involves for you, I know you will receive great satisfaction and inspiration from focusing on others.

So there you have it. Take this journey towards inspiration and motivation with me, won't you? Dedicate this week to pulling out of your "funk."
It's not always and easy task, but I'm right there with you dear ones. Even sitting here writing this I feel as though I'm lulling in a rut of some sort, but through God's help and these steps I plan on pulling out of it.
Please let me know how these six steps help you if you try them!
